I love making and receiving homemade gifts! This is one that has proven to be a hit for the last couple of years both for work colleagues and for family and friends.
This simple all natural beeswax lip balm takes minimal ingredients and can be done in just a few minutes minus cooling time.
You will need:
Occasionally we have to play with the olive oil measurements and add a small splash or two more. I think some beeswax dries harder, so you can test it by putting a drop on a little plate or piece of parchment paper and it cools almost instantly. If it feels right to you, you're good to go.
Pour your melted lip balm into the tins being careful not to overfill (as you can see we have done on a couple here!) and leave until they cool.
- 1.5 oz beeswax (pellets or a block will work just fine)
- 3 oz EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
- optional: few drops of your favorite essential oils (like vanilla or peppermint) or 1 tbsp honey
- containers to hold the finished lip balm

And that's it! You're all done. Fun, quick, easy, and everyone we have given them to brings their tins back to get refilled.
I highly recommend these small round tins from my Zazzle shop.
They are technically candy tins, but you can order them empty and I think this is such a great way to think outside of the box and use things in unexpected ways!
They are beautiful, can be customized with the recipients name, and
are the perfect size to hold the lip balm. I keep one in my purse and
one on my nightstand by my bed.
You can find more designs in my Zazzle shop and if you don't see the art piece you are looking for, use the handy transfer feature or message me and I will add it to a tin for you!
*Bonus tip: You can make a sheer tinted lip balm by adding a small chunk of your favorite lip stick or a bit of your favorite lip gloss at the same point you add essential oils or honey. Keep adding it until its just a little darker than you think you want it because it will lighten up after it cools.
Obviously, it is no longer all natural this way, but it does make a pretty barely there color.
